Association of Women in Computing
We are a Penn State student club that supports women in technology majors. Join AWC today!
To attract and retain more women in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering majors by providing an open, safe environment of female peers and a place where women can freely ask questions and learn more about their field. We promote the advancement of women in the technical fields and provide networking opportunities for all of our members.
College is much easier when you have a support system. AWC is all about making a great group of friends!
We host Tech Talks and workshops for our members to learn about technology outside of the classroom.
These are The Facts.
Special thanks to the CSE Department for their continued dedication to diversity. There is strength in numbers and efforts are being made to improve them. The following statistics show what percent of students in the School of EECS at Pennsylvania State University are female (as of Fall 2019).
Grace Hopper Celebration
The Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) is the world’s largest gathering of women in computing. AWC offers sponsorship to members each year based on level of involvement and commitment in the club. We were able to send 16 women to GHC 2019. In 2020, we hope to send even more and one of them could be you!
Our current membership consists of about 60 women with 45 active members. We hope to recruit more Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering majors.
